Covid-19: Here's Brand-New Breakdown Of Orange County Cases By Community

Seven new COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Orange County this week as the number of active cases spiked by several hundred.

Health officials in Orange County are now monitoring 2,049 active COVID-19 cases as of Friday, Feb 5, down more than 600 since Monday. The new deaths brought the total to 685 since the pandemic began last year.

The state Health Department was reporting 212 new cases reported in the past 24 hours.

There have now been 32,830 COVID-19 confirmed positives reported in Orange County out of more than 490,000 tests administered, according to the Department of Health.

There are currently 130 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Orange County, down from 148 with six cases under investigation for possible infections.

The overall positive infection rate in Orange County rose slightly from 6.6 percent to 6.7 percent, still among the highest in the Hudson Valley.

There were 203,627 COVID-19 tests administered in New York on Feb. 4, according to Cuomo, resulting in 8,777 new cases for a 4.31 percent positive infection rate, down slightly from earlier in the week.

The infection rate is the lowest the state has recorded since November.

Thirty COVID-19 patients were discharged from New York hospitals, as the total dropped to 7,937 still being treated statewide. There are 1,516 patients in ICU, and 1,000 are currently intubated. There were 153 new COVID-19-related deaths reported in the past 24 hours.

Statewide, a total of 1,449,495 positive COVID-19 cases have been confirmed out of 32.98 million tests that have been administered. There have been a total of 35,920 virus-related deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
